Molecular Imaging Lab at the University of Nottingham
We’re an interdisciplinary group based within the Schools of Medicine & Chemistry at the University of Nottingham focused on developing new molecular imaging tools for biomedical applications. We focus on contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging — chemistry that lights up biology in living systems.
Dr Pete Harvey
Pete Harvey is an Associate Professor and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow based jointly across the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre – School of Medicine and the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. His lab sits at the interface of inorganic chemistry, NMR spectroscopy, and clinical imaging.
The group designs new classes of paramagnetic lanthanide complexes — molecules that change the way water relaxes in a magnetic field — to make MRI capable of reporting on biology, not just anatomy.
Work in the lab spans chemical synthesis, cell biology and metabolism, in vivo imaging at 7 T, and translation toward clinical applications in neurology and oncology.
